After doing some research around for a business laptop that I could use for linux and work I settled on the t60(p). There are a couple of reasons for my choice:
1. every new expensive business laptop has a huge not in use space between the screen and the lid (housing one webcam which I don't use and find it a total marketing trick.)
2. I don't have the money for the new expensive business laptops.
3. I like old hardware that looks professional and doesn't suffer from the newest trend of cutting quality for money.
4. I would like 4:3 with IPS (flexview)

And then you ask why don't you buy a 15" 4:3 t43(p) processing power is overrated:

Well I am the first one to criticize the use of 4.0gH of processing power for most users. However, I will need x64 and t43 seems to have problems with new hard drives (I will invest on and ssd when they mature (as will my pocket)) and linux in general.

So what do I need from a t60(p) so we can recommend the best model for you.

So where are you buying from?
I would like to buy from ebay; does someone form here sell on ebay so I can be sure for the quality of the product?

You need a 15" SXGA+/UXGA T60/p. These are the ones that are Flexview.

Furthermore, you need one with a Core 2 Duo CPU (since Core Duo is not 64bit). These are not as common, but they exist, and it is always possible to buy the CPU separately and upgrade.

Unfortunately, for 64bit OS, T60, as much as I love it, has one serious flaw - the chipset will only utilize 3GB of RAM, no matter which OS, and no matter how much you install.

Due to this limitation, T60/T61 Frankenpads have become popular - essentially you take a motherboard from a 4:3 T61 (since it is the only one compatible), and transplant it into a 15" T60 body, which gets you the Flexview LCD, and the extra performance of a T61 (faster CPUs, support up to 8GB of RAM).

If you are interested, search the forums, there have been a few projects like this done or in the making.

If that's possible would it be possible buying a t60 body and adding t61 motherboard and make a project out of it? It would be a good entertainment... and will have me out of studying for a while at least.
