XP Video problems with Widescreen T60

I have intermittent display problems with my widescreen T60 when running XP, especially when running "Aver Media" to watch HDTV.
When I bring up XP I get a fine line across the screen, halfway down. I can often cure that by twisting the LCD cover slightly.
Then I sometimes get garbled display on the bottom third of the screen. Sometimes it comes and goes, sometimes it goes away when the T60 warms up. Sometimes I recycle the XP to try to get it right.
