so i have a t61
today i bought a power adaptor for it (universial)
it works and charges my hp laptop (so i know the charger works)
but when i plug it into the t61.....nothing, none of the lights light up.....and when i push the power button abslutly nothing happens.
iv opend it up and visialy inspected the mobo, and i cant see any signs of water damager or anything. the only place that looks a bit off is on the power plug (internal) where it looks corroded/worn/not right.
iv already spent quite a bit of time on this machine and rely would like it to work with minimal cost.
any how maby you guys can help?
thanks

Do you have a multimeter? Measure from the center conductor to the outer shell at the end of the AC adapters cord. It must read 20vdc to power the T61.

the power adapter worked on my hp (the same voltage as the thinkpad)
i found some corrosion on a metal piece inside the laptop....unfortunaly this puppy needs a new mobo...which incidentaly i cant afford :( ...oh well.

now for anyone thats wondering, this was going to be a hackintosh so all this means is that im going to have to buy a real mac now

The voltage is not the only thing to be concerned about; you also have to verify that the polarity of the plug is correct.
