If I had to buy a platter based drive, I'd opt for the Momentus XT. My experience with hard drives is if they're similar in specs, they'll perform about the same in the real world. The area of difference between the drives is the noise levels.

Momentus XT is twice the price. It shows some benefit but due to low about on solid memory it only works in a limited fashion. (Lot of people reviews on Newegg)

I have the 250GB Momentus XT. I haven't installed it yet, but plan to sometime this week.
