Hey guys, ive got an offer for a t60 with 14"/1gb ram/x1400/500gb harddrive for $100 us, pretty nice actually!
but theres a catch, the bios is dead/damaged/corrupt.

Should I go for it? Before buying a new motherboard, what can I try to fix the chip and have the fully functional board?

Do you guys have a picture of the bios chip, is it in a socket or is it soldered to the board?

EDIT: the seller says he was updating the BIOS and the computer went to hibernation and that caused the problem. He says the laptop turns on and posts.

The only method for BIOS repair recognized by the manufacturer is systemboard replacement, and that's all we'll allow to be discussed here.

The bios is tied to the security chip on the motherboard.
