A widescreen T6x motherboard will not fit into a 4:3 (non-widescreen) T6x/p chassis. If you want to build a FlexView ThinkPad with a T61 motherboard in a T60/p base, you will need a 4:3 T61 motherboard.

You will find more information about this issue in e.g the thread Parts for the ultimate 15” T60 UXGA FlexView w/T61(p) mobo?

Not without extensive cutting of the magnesium frame. You also lose the ultrabay, but some people have done it so they could have the FX570m with 512mb ram instead of 256 on the 4:3 boards. I still would not recommend this since it make the chassis weak.

It's actually 256MB VRAM vs. 128MB VRAM.

If the machine will remain stationary at all times, it *might* be worth looking into. Here's one such - heavily customized in other respects as well - system for sale: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=119700

My mistake. For some reason, the topic appeared in the 'new posts' section.
