BATTERY CYCLE COUNT ?

My Battery went dead at a Count Cycle of 205, is this average ? I find that to be very low as my previous one gave me well over 330. The battery in question is p/n 92P1137 NOM 10.8V 5.2AH. Also, can someone recommend a place where to buy one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Thanks in advance my fellow ThinkPadders.

Sounds high, but others can answer that more definitively.
http://outlet.lenovo.com really has good prices.

i dont think cycle count is really a good indication, it is a count.. I had sanyo with 40 counts fully die on me...
Its a combination of how you charge it + counts..
the lenovo outlet store never have my battery

I think the cycle counter only ticks over when you discharge below 15%; if you discharge to 20% and recharge a hundred times it won't be counted at all and obviously it is still reducing the battery's cycle-life almost as much as a hundred counted 'cycles'.

No.
The microprocessor in the battery keeps score of the
equivalent of full discharge cycles by adding up the incremental capacity used over time. So, for instance, if you used 20% of the battery capacity on each of 5 separate battery operation sessions, that would score as a 1 full discharge cycle, even if you recharged between each session.

There is nothing in terms of laptop battery usage that can ever be regarded as
average, as both the actual usage patterns combined with particular charge/discharge threshold settings produce what are effectively an infinitely variable set of possible conditions.
However, more than 200 cycles is a good life for any Lithium technology battery, in any possible laptop device usage.
You didn't mention how old your battery is, but keep in mind that Lithium battery technology will degrade over time
whether it is used or not, and three years is also generally regarded as a good life for a Lithium technology battey no matter what its cycle count is.
Cheers,
Bill B.
