Can I boot without the LCD connected? (T60)

I am rebuilding a laptop and I have hit another snafu with a R60 bluetooth/VGA cable coming to me instead of the T60 type.

I replaced my motherboard and memory, along with a T7200 I have waiting. Is it possible to boot without the LCD (the entire top half) disconnected?

I'd like to at least start troubleshooting/bench testing the rest of the system in case I have other duds that need to be RMA'd.

Thanks

Å

Yes, the laptop boots with the LCD or even entire lid removed. I have never specifically tried that my self, but judging from what this guy does with his R51: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=85326 it seems like running the Thinkpad with no LCD doesn't trigger any errors.

I bet emeraldgirl08 will not be too chuffed about being called a guy ...

When you connect an external monitor, you can even boot from a loose motherboard.

Ha, ha. So emeraldgirl08 IS a female, then.

Usernames can be deceiving when it comes to gender, so I usually don't try and guess from that, unless it is a specific male/female name. But when I think about it, why do I assume that all computer nerds are men? My wife, educated within IT and working as a sysadmin, would get very disappointed if she read this.

At least I know I put it back together right.

Need to test the ethernet and modem still....

Aw, Mrs. S isn't disappointed. She's just one of the guys. In fact, she may be more 'man' then most men will ever be  Honey, did you need me to show you how that computer of yours works? /me grins

I have built a server from a bare T60 system board. It just has a CPU, RAM, Fan, HDD and keyboard (for power button). You don't need anything from the top part of the laptop, in fact you don't need any display at all.

Here's a picture and some details:
