Backlight or Inverter Issue in my T61?

Hello. I have a Lenovo T61 which was brought in the early 2008. Here are the specs:
CTO 6465
FRU: 42X4641
15.4" LCD (WSXGA+)
Resolution: 1680 x 1050

In the attached picture the brightness in the BIOS was set to high and in windows environment was set almost to the top.
In normal conditions you were supposedly able to be watching a white blank text document instead of this pinkish coloring background.
This issue date back from almost a year: firstly the display became progressively dimming away, very difficult to see. Then the pinkish coloring was more evident as you can see in the picture. And in the last week a little flickering was started. not very noticeable but still somewhat annoying.
I want to avoid to replace the entire screen since it was in perfect conditions (except for this issue). So I'm wondering if this could be an inverter problem rather than a backlight issue... I don't think so, but I need some confirmation before getting myself involve in the expensive process of ordering a replacement (Inverter, Backlight, or a full Display). I live overseas!
Thanks in advance.
