My 60 GB stock drive is becoming too small. Is-that just a matter of putting any 2.5'' SATA laptop hard drive and use the OEM XP installation disk?

The stock drive is 7200rpm, most common 2.5'' sata drive are 5400rpm, will it have a significant speed penalty if I am using 5400rpm?

I just installed a new hard drive in my T60. Any SATA drive with a height of 9.5mm will work. I used a Western Digital 'scorpio black' 500gb 7200rpm. I used HD clone to copy the old drive onto the new.

Performance shot below of the new drive (7200rpm) using HD tune

I am not familiar with HD clone software. Is-it free? and will it carry over my legit XP installation and license?

I used the free version of HD clone, there are other faster versions for $$. It copied an exact clone of the old drive (installed in an external enclosure) onto the new drive (installed in the T60) and everything works fine.
