Mosuepad stop working after bootup completes.

#1 Post by Padhead » Wed Sep 29, 2010 10:22 pm

Hell Again, i am back to visit to "the masters" for a solution on this problem, (groveling loudly )

My Mousepad and left / right buttons stop working after the boot-up completes. An error reads that the mousepad is turned off in the BIOS. And for me to use the BIOS or the TP Configuration to it back on. BUT here's the kicker, it already is turned on in the BIOS (automatic).

This computer's description is listed in my signature. I am still on XP. And I recently updated the system update.

Thanks Folks!

I dont know much cmos batteries. This computer is and has been used everyday, since day one.

I tried uninstalling the ultranav software and it's driver last night, then reinstalling it, but i got the same nonsense.

The lifespan of such a battery can be anywhere up to 10 years, but some die sooner.
Replacement is cheap. You'll find it (flat yellow round thingy) under the front palmrest.
If BIOS does not keep settings, it's usually a non-working CMOS battery.

But why does it work before the computer boots up? It will work for hours as long as I don't login to windows or RnR
