When i unplug my t60p power cable the machine shuts off...

When i unplu the power cable, my t60p is going to a black screen and then tells me machine wasnt shut down properly. Battery appears ok. Whats wrong?

Can you (without AC) boot the laptop, work with it for say 15-30 minutes, then close down?
What percentage is the battery at start and at close-down?
Battery status/cycles/how old?
