T60 Touchpad going bad?

#1 Post by mjgunn » Sun Oct 03, 2010 12:35 am

I was using my t60 this afternoon and the cursor was jumping all around and jittery while I was moving, and it would just click things randomly while I was attempting to move it across the screen. Rebooted and no fix. I can plug a mouse or use the trackpoint and it works fine. Sometimes it works for a minute, but then I'll use it again and the behavior will be the same. Is my touchpad going bad, and if so it is possible to replace it?

I had a clients TouchPad go bad early this year as per your description and found all was OK via an external mouse, I was able to replace the TouchPad module bought NEW from an eBay seller - As I remember it, there are four screws to remove and a small ribbon cable to disconnect.

If you have the ThinkVantage "UltraNav" software installed, you can disable the TouchPad (& bottom left/right mouse buttons). [Under Win XP: Control Panel > Mouse > UltraNav > Under TouchPad - Uncheck "Enable TouchPad"].
