ADVANCED MINI DOCK 2504 VS 2504-10U

Just got myself an ADVANCED MINI DOCK Type 2504 ASM P/N 42W4633 & FRU P/N 42W4632. I have noticed a couple of threads on the 2504-10U but nothing on 2504. I tried searching on the net to find out what the differences can be but not should luck. Is there a difference between these two models ? Thanks again.

Extension -10U means it has a North-American power cord, that's all.
Other countries have different extensions.

So if I understand this correctly, the ones having model # 2504 came or come
WITH NO the AC Adaptor while the ones with model # 2504-10U came or come
WITH the AC Adaptor. Is that correct ?

No. The mini-dock always comes with the AC adapter. The actual AC power cord will differ depending on the country.

Yes, check the outer box label for the 2504-XXXX suffix code. If there's no box, then whoever you got the dock from probably kept or lost the AC adapter. You need either a grounded, or polarized, version of the 90W adapter, and the corresponding power cord for your region (Three prong for grounded, two for polarized).
The polarized is easier to plugin due to the prevalence (in the US) of polarized outlets alongside grounded ones (polarized is fine for both), but there are inline surge protectors available for the grounded version (from Targus etc) that can be inserted between the power cord and adapter brick. A really nice accessory if you can use it.

I mixed and matched. I bought a used Dock from one guy and a used AC Adaptor from another guy. The Dock TYPE 2504 and has
no suffix (08/01 20V 4.5A with key ASM P/N 42W4633 FRU P/N 42W4632) while the AC Adaptor is a two prong lenovo 90W 20V 4.5A P/N 92P1109 2006.09. I do use an inline power surge.
Is this match OK (Dock and AC Adaptor) or should I be concerned ?
Thanks.

It's OK. As long as it's the Lenovo 90W adapter, you will be fine.
All docks just say 'Type 2504' at the bottom.

You know...not until you said so, did I double-check to see if two-prong versions existed, and they
do. Oddly enough, I've only seen the three-prong ones for sale in shops.

I use a two prong. Do you folks have any issue with the USB ports on the advanced Mini Dock not functioning?

Is your power supply 65W or 90W? (you were asked this in the other thread, but did not answer)

Hi. If your question is addressed to me ... I am using a "two prong lenovo 90W 20V 4.5A AC Adaptor P/N 92P1109 2006.09" on my 2504 mini-dock.

Hi!
I would like to get the 2504 for my T60 1951 ... will this work? I can't figure it out.. the
Lenovo page would suggest it works, but when I look at the descriptions on ebay, the 14.1" version is usually left out.
I would really like DVI-support for my docking station (2 screens ftw

), so I would appreciate any help / alternatives.

I'm using a 2504 dock (no suffix) for my t60 with a non-standard 12V->20V DC adapter for use in my boat. Works fine, my only concern is, that this docking station is powered, which means that when the supply is removed, the T60 is undocking. That in turn means, that I loose the functionality of the dock (COM1 serial port) which interfaces my GPS-navigator - that is a bit irritating

. My previous dock for my T40/41 would function OK without supply.
On top of all this, I find the documentation for the dock very minimal

.
