Normal sleep ok, but hibernate or hybrid sleep = NO

#1 Post by JKK » Sun Oct 17, 2010 12:33 am

Hi there...

Everything's in the title! More : When i push hibernate sleep, the thinkpad will start going to sleep and few seconds later, an internal sound (like when you plug off AC adapter) and then screen turns on, so it really doesn't wanna go to hibernate sleep! I updated driver and checked usual things, i've no idea what's the problem...

Hope someone does! :P

Check that Wake-On-Lan is disabled (in BIOS and in network settings, it's probably active.

If you did not check available disk space, then verify that the drive on which the hibernation file resides has sufficient free space. [Most likely you have a background task active which inhibits hibernate.]

The hibernate file is created when you turn it on (i mean, the option) isn't it? Therefore, no disk space should be needed..

Check in all regular items in Device Manager, that they may be "switched off to save power".
Also press ctrl-alt-del and start Task Manager.
Click on the tab "Processes" and in there on the "CPU" header. Click that until it shows the highest number at the top of the column.
System Idle Process should be taking up 99% and the rest should be about 0%.
You should find some program(s) running there that will stop it from hibernating.
Report back with your findings.

I already tried things like plug off ethernet cable, or even disable it in device manager, as well as usual settings that makes troubles and nothing changed...

You never said which OS (version of Windows) you are trying to hibernate!

If you are running Windows 7, perhaps the following will help.
