T61 Battery Problem (Battery Not Installed reading)

Greetings everyone!
I'd just like to ask for your help about my dilemma. I've been experiencing this from Power Manager and Windows' battery icon in the system tray, which reads "Battery Not Installed" whenever my T61 is plugged on AC/DC power. When I remove the plug, my machine still runs but still shows the "Battery Not Installed" reading. The Green battery LED on the ThinkPad bezel also turns on and off.
Whenever I plug the machine to the power socket before pressing the power button, only the "Plugged In" LED meter turns green, with that for the battery remaining turned off. A bigger problem exists, however, when I attempt to turn the machine on without plugging it on AC/DC power. When I press the power button and move past the ThinkPad welcome screen, my machine shows Error 0190 "Critical Low Battery Error". However, when I plug the machine again, it boots normally.
I've already contacted Lenovo support before and advised me to download a program then burn it as a boot CD. I think it's the bootable PC-Doctor CD to check for hardware problems when booting the machine. Upon trying it and checked for battery problems, the bootable PC-Doctor problem said that my battery is running fine and has no problems.
What do you think is the problem with my machine? Although I'm working most of the time with my T61 plugged on a wall socket, there are times I have to run it through its battery and the machine wouldn't simply turn on.
I hope someone could refer me to a solution.
Thanks a lot!
