blurry resolution

My computer's native resolution is 1680 x 1050. This makes things very small to see in some cases. When I switch to lower resolutions, the display is blurry. Is there a way to sharpen it, without being in native resolution?

In Display Properties, select Settings/Advanced button, modify DPI settings to your liking.

I tried, but this does not seem to make much difference on webpages.

How long have you been using this computer for? If you got it recently, I highly recommend you to try to adapt to this resolution for several weeks. After adapting to it, you will be glad that it gives you so much more working space than lower resolutions. When I first upgraded from a 15.0" 1600x1200 screen (an A31p Thinkpad) to a 15.4" 1920x1200 screen (a Dell Inspiron 6000), it took me several months to fully adapt. But after that, I could use the screen at the native resolution without any discomfort.

Your web browser should allow you to zoom in or out. For IE8, you do that by changing the percentage at the bottom right corner of the browser.
