3rd party fan for T60p

Hi,

As lots of T60/T60p users, I also suffer from the notorious "Fan Error" for my T60p.

I did disassemble my T60p, clean the blades of the fan, put some oil in there. The machine started to work silently, getting noisier, noisier and noisier, and need to be disassembled again.

I just wonder, is there "decent" quality (and quiet) 3rd fan we can use to replace the one in IBM/Lenovo heat sink?

Thanks adv.
JSCW

Cleaning the fan is one thing, the other is replacing the thermal paste. If you are sure that the fan itself is ok, maybe it's a good idea to disassemble it (again) and check that the thermal compound over the CPU and GPU is ok before buying a new fan. Eventually replace the old compound by a good paste like Artic Silver 5 or similar.

Check the fan properly.
There's probably a manufacturer's name and model on it.
Maybe the fan itself is removable and separately available on the www.
On various other model Thinkpad fans I have seen names like NKW, SEPA, Fujikura, Toshiba, Furukawa.

A few do seem to ba available on eBay from far east sellers. I don't know how easy it is to separate the fan from the actual heatsink itself though.
