Gel Wrist Pad for a T61

Ok T6x users,

I have a problem. For the first time in my life today, I felt some serious pains in my wrist.

Now I probably subconciously altered my typing/trackpointing style recently, leading to my wrists touching the surface more than normal. This I can try to correct.

In the meantime, I am looking for a nice gel pad that can be placed on the wrist regions where the Thinkpad logo and Intel logos are.

What are some of the ones that you guys know work nicely with the T6x layout. Any specific brands recommended? Any that are good for the T61 layout in particular? Are there any good removable ones (if any), because it would be a shame to lose the lock/latch functionality and the look of a nice clean closed lid, just to save my wrists.

I use the trackpoint only, and the touchpad is basically non-existent to me (so you get an idea of my general hand positioning).

Hoping to get some suggestions because at the moment I can barely work without my wrists getting all warm, tingly and painful.

I enable both (Fn+F8) when I am relaxed which makes the touchpad easier to use and decrease friction on my wrists. I tweaked my Ultranav touchpad settings to a somewhat happy medium from the default so it's somewhat manageable :)

I am not sure where you would get a wrist guard from but good luck on your search.

Just for an idea: http://www.amazon.com/3M-Wrist-Rest-Key ... B00004Z5Z8
They probably come in different shapes and formats, and one will be bound to work for you.
Alternatively, get a normal USB keyboard to plug into the laptop.
Lenovo has them even with the trackpoint.

Hey,

Thanks for that link. The problem is that none of the stores around me stock this. I have to drive like 40 minutes to go to a store that MIGHT have selection. So my best bet is buying online. Which means I can't get a first hand look at it (shape etc).

That's why I was hoping some Thinkpad users would recommend some detachable ones that they have actually used on their own Thinkpads (specifically the T6x series with the large wrist support area).

On the USB Keyboard, I tend to travel alot with the laptop, and often use it in non-flat places so something that actually attaches to the laptop wrist areas itself is what I'm looking for.

I'm thinking two flattish gel pads, roughly 8cmx2cm, should do the trick, one on each side. It would elevate my hands keeping my wrists in a straight position, and should give comfort. They would probably have to be detachable though, likely through the use of velcro, one part of which would directly glue on to the wrist support areas.

I'll continue scouring google/ebay/amazon and see if I can locate something like that.

If you guys can think of such a product, let me know. Or any others are welcome too.

If all else fails, look for a no-longer-used pair of 'falsies', they may just fill your requirements!

How old are you, maybe this is beyond your age?

Old enough to have owned multiple laptops, and witess the Turbo button as well as the great Windows 3.1.
It's actually an American cultural term according to Wikipedia, but thanks for the suggestion.
