Thinkpad to TV

I would like to play movies from my T61 to a TV set. Is this possible and if yes, what is required?

Sure it's possible. What kind of input does your TV have? That will determine what cables and/or converters you may need.

The TV has a S-Video and RGB inputs. Is it just a matter of getting a cable?

Do you mean component? Three RCA jacks? If that's the case, you will need a transcoder something like this.
