T61 14.1" screen upgrade options

Hi guys,

I have a T61 with the following original specs:

Based 7665-CTO: T7500(2.2GHz), 2GB RAM, 160GB 7200rpm HD, 14.1in 1280x800 LCD, 128MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless(n-disabled), Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ether, UltraNav, Sec Chip, 7c Li-Ion, WinVista Business 32

I upgraded some stuff (maxed the RAM to 4GB, installed an SSD, installed Windows 7).

But there is a thing that i am still not satisfied about... the LCD screen.

The colors are dull, the viewing angle is quite bad, and the resolution is also a bit low (1280*800).

What are my options regarding FlexView / IPS / Higher resolution screens?


I know that a friend of mine had a T61 with a 1920*1200 (not sure about that resolution, but it could support FullHD) but that was a 15" model, and i am very bond to my T61 because of the 14.1" compactness (the 15" model is larger and heavier)

Is there also a difference in screen ratio's ? My T61 is widescreen (16:10).

While you certainly can bump up to a higher resolution screen, there's no IPS options available for the T61. I don't know that there's one screen available for the T61 that's particularly better than the others. If you want an IPS like screen probably your best option is the X200 or X201 with the AFFS mod, but that puts you back at WXGA. I have one. It's a great machine, but not a 14".
