Bios upgrade on T60p widescreen
Bios upgrade on T60p widescreen
I have a T60p widescreen running Win 7 64-bit and still using the old bios Version 7IET19WW (1.00), is it advisable to upgrade it to the latest version Version 7IET37WW (1.18)
I have a seagate 250Gb 5400 as main HDD and 2nd HDD ,a seagate 500GB 7200 on an ultra slim drive bay (jumpered pin 1and 2) and sometimes OS cannot find bootdrive on cold boot, had to reboot Win 7 and sometimes BSOD on crash dumps while browsing using Firefox 3.6

Re: Bios upgrade on T60p widescreen
My suggestion is yes, but I would do it from a bootable CD (from iso image) rather than from inside windows 7.

Re: Bios upgrade on T60p widescreen
I will try to resist the temptation to say that running 64-bit windows 7 on a T60 is not the best choice for a newbie. You need to download the .iso file from this page:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67020
You will need some kind of software to open the file and burn a cd, then boot from the cd and follow the instructions. Perhaps you know someone who can help.

If he's already got Win7 installed, it's no problem to burn an .iso--Win7 has a built-in utility that will launch by default when you double-click an .iso (unless you've changed the default file association).

Thank you so much for the info and guidance.......richk wrote:My suggestion is yes, but I would do it from a bootable CD (from iso image) rather than from inside windows 7.
I was able to download the bootable Iso image for Win 7 64-bit from Lenovo support site for T60p Widescreen and burn a bootable CD using ImageBurn and use it to boot outside Win 7 and upgrade the Bios to its latest version .
