T61 4:3 problem replacing screen

Greetings

I am the proud owner of a T61 14' 4:3, in SXGA+ resolution, of which I tried to replace the screen after the latter died.

I concluded on the lamp dying, for it had gained a clear red tinge, and the lamp would shut down only after a few minutes, images remaining.

As I had the decried Samsung screen, I wasn't too keen on finding the exact same reference, and expected an improvement in the replacement Thinkpad T61 14' SXGA+ screen I purchased.

But the one I got doesn't seem to work: instead of image I only go an indistinct flurry of vertical lines, pixel wide and of white and elementary colors. Also, as the input connector is located differently (a bit lower), I had to renounce the Thinklight.

A more tech savvy guy I asked told me it was probably due to an incompatible inverter.

But I am at a total loss at finding the precise part (and living outside of the US doesn't help), somebody knows how to find the inverter reference associated with a screen reference?

The parts references I currently have are:

replacement screen (can't determine the manufacturer): IBM FRU# 42T0373

old (dead) screen (manufacturer: Samsung): FRU PN: 42X4582

current inverter: PN 41W1480 FRU 41W1479

The correct parts according to the parts manual for the SXGA+ T61 are Samsung 42T0369 and TMD 42T0373. They use the same LCD cable and inverter. My opinion is that the new LCD is defective or is missing EDID data. Get a genuine Lenovo FRU. Even though some may have a sticker on them they still could be a knock-off. The LCD connector being in a different position is suspicious.

the inverter controls the backlight, your problem of different vertical line colour and other problems you describe is not related to the inverter.

At first I wondered if the new one wasn't simply a SXGA+ meant from a different line of thinkpads, especially since the back is vastly different from my old one: it has a quite large card including what appears to be a chipset, while the original doesn't have anything on it's smaller card.

But since the only reference on it is the same as the correct one, I guess I got ripped.

At second look, my factory original screen is most likely a 42T0369, for god knows why, I can distinguish a 42T0something on the large Samsung sticker, oddly covered by another small sticker carrying the 42X4582.

Do you know of some reliable part sellers? Since it being a 8889, with even by today's standard fairly decent specs, it tinge my hearth to think about replacing it, especially since I like better the 4:3 format.
