mini-dock + DVI .. no signal... but works during boot!

Hello,
Here is a problem which some of you have certainly seen before.
I have a T60p which I use with mini-dock to get DVI port to connect to an external monitor.
Today after reboot, I can no longer connect to external monitor using DVI.
The monitor just doesn't detect the signal.
Works fine with VGA though.
However.. when I went to BIOS and told it to use external screen via DVI as a primary screen,
the monitor works just fine (via DVI cable) till the moment, when windows boots up. Then it
goes black and switches to notebook LCD.. and external monitor can't be used any more via DVI.
When plugged with VGA - works fine.
So this is very puzzling. Looks like hardware is working fine, since during boot the monitor
works fine using DVI. I tried to remove completely all video drivers. System boots up using
external monitor and stays there.
I'm a bit lost. It looks like drivers problem. At the same time there is no control over which port
to use at drivers level. So it might be a hardare problem, but it seems to be working as well.
Any ideas ?
(to make things more complicated - the external monitor is ViewSonic VP2030b, which has certain
reputation for weird behaviour when it comes to DVI.. although it's been three years that I use
it).
Thank you very much if you can give me some hints on how to approach this.
Sincerely -M
