weird problem -- how do I get my USB port back?
I use my T60 in an application that requires a very high end sound card. - The only high end sound card I have found that works well on T60 series is the Echo Indigo IO
The problem is, anything plugged into the output jack of the Echo Indigo (speaker system, headphones, headphone amp etc.) blocks the USB port located right next to the T60's Cardbus jack where the Echo Indigo lives.
I am down to having to use a USB hub on one of the other two USB ports.
Any ingenious ways to get this blocked USB port back since I can't give up the sound card in this system?

You might want to try a Linux Live CD to test whether it's hardware or software related.

no, I think you are missing what I am meaning, it is neither a hardware nor software problem, everything is working properly - the port is physically blocked by anything plugged into the sound card

Re: weird problem -- how do I get my USB port back?
I would get a short (6") usb extension cable - eneough to move it out of the way, not so large as to interfere with anything else. Sometimes thumb drives come with them - don't know where you would get them on their own.
Good luck.
Good luck.

perhaps I need to post a photo - I can't plug in an extension cable because the port is physically blocked!

So you're looking for an application that will warp the three-dimensional space of our universe and allow you to use a port that's physically blocked?

Assuming we're talking about a home or office environment, (you don't carry your speakers and amp around with you right) Purchase and use an advanced mini-dock. It has (4) USB 2.0 ports. Plus it has Digital Audio (S/PDIF) out (coax), so perhaps you don't even need the audio card.

No, you see this is a very high end specification audio card and I like that it is portable with the computer, an external audio box with this much fidelity would be even more expensive and also cumbersome - I think I have found a solution though, a version of it with two output jacks.Plus it has Digital Audio (S/PDIF) out (coax), so perhaps you don't even need the audio card.
