Is the pad-setup on my T60p an "Ultranav" ? ...or some other model-name?
I ask because I'm perusing the driver-update pages at lenovo, in advance of finally
I've had problems with my pad, where it suddenly moves the cursor on its own, all the way one direction...and I lose the ability to move it myself in that axis. I had to disable it in drvr-mgr.
Tried to use it again some time later, and a while after booting, it suddenly went wonky in the same way again.
So I've not used the pad for a couple years.
But since I'm about to update to XP, and thinking it may've been a driver/OS glitch rather than a hdw failure, I'm trying to be sure I get the exact right driver setup with this move to XP.
I cannot recall whether I installed a 'Trackpoint driver' or not, back when. Nor do I know whether I even have a -pad- driver installed!....or whether I'm somehow using some sort of built-in driver of win2000's.
In drv-mgr, I have only a single driver under 'Mouse', and it's named confusingly....
"Ultranav Pointing Device"
One assumes it's a pad driver...but 'pointing device' and 'trackpoint' have a closeness...
note; it's odd....I remember two devices being listed, and turning one of them (the pad) off. But as I look at the listings in drvr-mgr, there's only the one mentioned above, with no mention of 'trackpoint' (which is what I'm using!).
Perhaps I'm recalling something in control-panel rather than drvr-mgr....but I'm not going to invest time in this mystery now, since I move to XP in a day or three.
So, I'd like to confirm exactly which driver(s) I should install with XP-sp3(32), and which to leave off.
Also, if anyone has seen the pad-problem I described, and discovered its cause with some certainty, please let me know. If I need new hdw....sigh....I'd like to know and start shopping for it.
thanks much,
Richard
