Help - my T60 aborts booting.

Dear folks,
I received an almost new, hardly used R60 (...I know, but most folks here are in the T60 section, and T60 and R60 mainboards are almost identical.)
It is a 15" SXGA model with a T2400 and ATI X1400. It looks like new, but one day it did not want to boot. I am still quite new to the T6x series, after 7 years with detailed experience with the T4x series.
My first tests reveiled the following (side by side with my working T60):
Power supply is fine, I push the power button.
All LEDs go on, battery is charging, fan starts spinning. Fine.
Fan then turns off, as it should be.
But there is no beep, no logo on the LCD. Looks like an abort of the power-up self test.
I removed the BIOS battery -> no effect
I pushed the power button and kept it holding for 30 sec -> no effect.
I removed the RAM -> I get the typical RAM Error beeps. So far so good.
I changed the RAM, no effect. I took all unnecessary cards out, no effect.
I checked all fuses I could find, they were ok.
Does anyone have a fuse map, just like the T4x map here in the forum?
Does anyone have a clue what to check next?
Is it possible that the ATI chip might be flawed like on the T4x series?
Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Beeblebrox
