T60 with ATI x1300 running hot, ati2evxx.exe at 99% CPU

Haven't seen this before. TPFC indicates the fan speed is high, at 3435 RPM, yet the CPU is running consistently very high at 65C, while the GPU is 77C (that always seems to run in the 70's). Task Manager indicates that ati2evxx.exe is most of the time pinned at 99% CPU usage. Why would this be happening?

Start > Run and type in services.msc. Go to Ati Hotkey Poller, set it to disabled and stop the process.

Either way. It's doubtful that you use ATI hotkeys...not many folks do.

Changing schemes with the presentation director might not work if this service is disabled.
