hello all and seasons greetings
i have bought some junk although i hope that proves to be wrong ihave a bought a pair of incomplete t61s one a 15.4" with an nvidia chip and the other with an intel gpu neither post well that said both will flash the lights and the fan runs for 2 seconds neither came with cpu or fan the usual stripped to the minium so i am using a t2400 cpu and now thinking maybe this is the reason for a lack of life the intel mb should post and maybe its the cpu if i can get something from these i will get a quote from poshgordie for repairs well the nvidia as i would like the 15.4 and the other extras that are lacking on my t60.
intel fru t61 41w1487
nvidia 15.4" fru 42w7652
thanks ian

I pretty certain you need a different CPU in order for the the T61's to work-something along the lines of a T7100, T7300, or T7500. I'm sure there are others that will work in that range, but off the top of my head I know that those CPU's came in the T61 models.

happy new year to all.
well that cpu was the problem, both the boards are working, i used a t7300 cpu, plus i got a 15.4" panel wsxga and its not bad to view at all.
i intend to build the t61 (intel gpu) into the 14" t60 i have and sell the t60 board.
The t61 15.4 .. i got a agn 4965 wifi card of course it will not show in device manager etc although intel, its not a ibm branded one , i used the link RBS sent but for the T61 bios but it reports flash not required it worked well when used for a t43 (in a t43 of course) so i wonder if that bios is already in , i wonder if RBS could say if there are any clues as to who's bios is loaded(not sure if i need to be this cryptic) i burned the first column not the bios string in the second column my version being 2.25 typed command and hit enter ,there was a long silence then a long beep.
Is there a special order for the 3 wires to connect to the wifi card, bluetooth is in the vga panel.
anyhow last year was not good for me ,father fell and has spent the last 3 weeks in hospital (82nd birthday in hospital) going up twice a day , still what luck 2x t61s m/b that both work for very little so this year starts better and hope its a goodyear for all.
ian..

Assuming you have 3 wires from the lcd (gray, white, black) and 3 connectors on the card, gray goes on the left, and white is in the middle.

You should have downloaded the 7luj25u file and burned the .iso from it.
If your laptop does not give any 180x errors with a non-IBM wifi card, than you have Zender's BIOS installed.

thanks for the wire info richk.
On the matter of the bios RBS , i was toying with the idea of going the ssd route, well after easter as the cost seems to have been droping steadly , i have a seagate monumentus ST9500420AS , 500gb 7200 , 16mb that i will fit this week with win 7 x64 , i have read the thread regarding the middleton bios and please correct me if needed, but this seems to offer many features, but i wonder if i use this will i see the gain on a sata hdd. also i could not work out which bios would suit this m/b , it has the fire wire and a card reader plus the 15.4 w/s and nvidia gpu.
On a different note i have a cason infared thermometer and was looking at the temps around the hsf unit,
the temps on the .. cpu around 98 c
nvidia gpu 105 c
south bridge 102c
cpu load at 10%
gpu at 60% ( never less than 52%)
i did notice with the wrong hsf that the gpu temp hit 125c and the t61 died so i have fitted the correct hsf to achieve these temps, but have located a tiny fan that should fit near/ adjacent to gpu to see if the nvidia gpu failure could be reduced, just a thought as the hsf has a lot to cool.
