Fingerprint software won't recall passwords in Firefox

After restoring my system to factory default and then upgrading windows and all the thinkvantage software, my fingerprint reader won't recall passwords in Firefox 3.5 or 3.6. I've installed the Thinkvantage fingerprint add-on and the patch for Firefix 3.5 and 3.6. When I start firefox with the add-on enabled, I get a Java error message. Any ideas?
