I touched the White Tape and Sensitive Area!

So I'm replacing my Flexview UXGA LCD being very careful to heed the warning on the back not to touch White Tape and Sensitive Area during installation.

But I caught myself doing it a couple times when aligning the screws that hold it in.

It works perfect... No more vertical smears. And viewing it just now I forgot just how bright & crisp the LCD is normally. Oh happy days!

I just hope it was a warning against static discharge and not that residual fingerprint oils, etc. are gonna turn the screen some weird shade of green or something down the line.

Congrats 8)

For ESD purposes yes, but just as importantly due to the fragile TABs (tape automated bond) or TCPs (tape carrier package) ensuring adressing the pixels column-wise. If one connection breaks, it would result in a dead vertical line. But one would really have to press hard or rip the protective plastic severely to cause any damage.

I guess since it's working properly (no black lines, etc.) I dodged that bullet.

Whew! I can sleep now :)
