T61 machine type processor mismatch with lenovo’s page

Hi everyone,
I just got a very nice used T61 7664-16U that has all its original stickers on the bottom cover and everything else seems original. Both lenovo Toolbox and Win 7 show the processor as a Core 2 Duo T7500 which matches the seller’s description.
The discrepancy is with the lenovo product information page where it shows the processor as being a T7300

– everything else matches correctly. Suffice to say I’m puzzled as to why this is.

Either the CPU was upgraded by the seller or a previous owner or the Lenovo description is incorrect. Having the Lenovo description be incorrect is not without precedent.

This is not a problem, it's a pleasant surprise

It would be much worse if it was the opposite...

I have checked the tawbook and description for processor matches the webpage description - so it looks like I have a souped up machine.

I have a 7664-16U bought new in 2007 and I can guarantee that it comes with a T7300 from the factory. Yours was definately upgraded, lucky guy

Maybe the CPU failed, and the machine was serviced with whatever they had in stock?
Although a CPU failing is highly unlikely.
