T60p & Seagate Solid State Hybrid HD install

This topic is similar to Hybrid SSD drive - anyone tried it?, though I'm more interested in the installation aspect and experience specific to T60p's.

I bought a Seagate 500GB ST95005620AS Solid State Hybrid drive for my T60p. The salesman said it was a mixture of solid state and regular drive. He also said it should show up as two partitions, though it could be partitioned as one drive. I connected it in a USB external case and it shows up in Disk Management as a single 465GB drive, no partitions.

Reading some reviews of it I came to understand that it actually only has a 4GB solid state cache, which "learns" which programs you use most and loads them accordingly for faster access. My questions are:

1. Anybody had experience with one of these in a T60p? Any complaints or conflicts?

2. In partitioning the drive, do I need to take any special precautions, or just partition and format like a regular drive?

thanks for the help

Search the forums for Seagate Momentus XT, several posts about it.
That's what it is commonly known as.

I looked through the posts under Seagate Momentus XT and still didn't find answers to the procedural questions I had. Basically just need to know if it formats and partitions like a regular drive and, if not, what to do differently. Can anybody else help?

It's treated just like a normal HD, only a lot faster.
