Is it (1) long beep followed by (2) short beeps?

Thank you for your help. And its one longer beep follow by 2 shorter beeps. Actually, I suspect the problem is with the motherboard. I had read about T61 Nvidia problem and wondering if T60s have the same problem too. Any recommendation for good motherboard ? Appreaciated.

Have you tried reseating and swapping RAM? T60's would not have the same problem because they have ATI (or Intel) GPU's. That's not to say it is not possible for an ATI GPU to fail, but it is far less likely than an nVidia GPU on a T61. I have no idea where to get a T60 systemboard in your part of the world. I'd wait for other replies. It would help with identifying the board if you posted the machine type and model # from the sticker on the bottom of the laptop. It will be a (7) digit alpha-numeric like 2647-3CU.

I am having the same issue with a 'parts' T60p that I just received. And when I say for parts, I mean for parts-this was a nice 14.1" T60p with SXGA+ screen, ATI 5200 video, WWAN, etc-but it looked like it had literally been ran over by a vehicle a couple of times-pretty much everything was broken, but I hoped to salvage a few items. Upon disassembly, I noticed that the system board actually looked intact, besides the USB sub card assembly. So on a whim I hooked up an external monitor (the LCD was smashed and the cable severed) and amazingly it booted right up. I threw in a hard drive from another T60 with Windows 7 and it booted into Windows and installed the drivers. However, when running the Windows Experience index test, right after the video portion would start the laptop would reboot. However, it would give the one long beep followed by two short beeps-same as yours. Occasionally I could get it to power back on, but eventually when you did anything graphics intensive it would reboot again and do the same beep sequence.

I swapped in different RAM with no change. As of now, it will not boot-it will only give the same 1 long, 2 short beep sequence. Try swapping/changing out the RAM, maybe reseat the LCD cable just to be sure. But it's very possible that the dedicated video portion of the board has failed, which is what I am pretty sure has happened to mine. But to be honest, it's a miracle mine worked at all after what the laptop had been through.
