Dim Backlight?

#1 Post by Craigyas » Wed Jan 12, 2011 12:01 pm

OK, I have a 2007 t60, and I noticed that when I plugged my laptop into my monitor it seemed comparably dim. Now I am fairly sure that this laptop isn't old enough for the LED' s to have worn down. I tried the standard brightness control, but to no avail I was wondering if there was a hidden brightness feature, or a power save feature, or if this was normal. thanks

Your laptop doesn't have LEDs, instead it has a backlight, known as CCFL.
The laptop LCDs are nearly always 'dimmer' than a monitor.
Over the years, the CCFL wears out, even more so if you use it on a daily basis for many hours.
You can replace the CCFL, especially once it starts going pinkish/reddish, or have it replaced by the likes of http://www.lcdparts.net/CCFL3D.aspx
