Well I skyped my self on a different laptop the image received by other lappy is clear is clear .The image received on the T61 is all garbled with spider veins as well as a green tint. For the most part my desktop looks normal except for spider veins here and there

wonder if I should uninstall the camera? Will that revert my system ? I tried a restore to early this am but I still ahve the same problem. Will be checking in and out or I can be PM as I have house work to finish up. Moldings, tile etc

Check the vga ribbon cable connection from the back of the LCD to the board.

Kamika007z Thank you tried that 3 times!! Now I have no backlight at all!! probably the inverter. I have large hands and might have pushed a tad hard. The inverter cable is hard to connect as itis a zero fit!! Oh well if I did not have bad luck I would have no luck at all!!

Yup, its starting to sound like inverter.

Get the part number off of that and check ebay or these forums for a replacement.

Let us know what the end result is.

Still waiting for the inverter. I installed the camera on a different T61 and I am wondering if I can use the fingerprint scanner form the old T61 on the new T61 which has a standard passowrd setup?
I will repost how I make out with the inverter. The camera ius working tho but the color is off. I will tweak it with some updates from Lenovo I guess.

Yes...my added camera color was off also. Even tweaking the skype color setting did not make it perfect. My X200 camera has much better color values.

Oh well...it is better than nothing.

My guess is if the motherboard supports the FPR then you should be able to swap a FPR palm rest and it should operate. Check the T61 Hardware Manual to see if you have the correct motherboard. Or you can just plug it is and see if it plays.

AFAIK every T61 supports FPR whether it came with FPR from the factory or not.

OK just for grins I hooked the FPR to the non FPR T61 and it found and wants to install. I shut down rather than install until I check here and make sure no damage will happen to the mobo.

I must be brain dead! I simply cannot fins a newer camera driver for the T61 ! newer drivers (XP) are available ofr different models but the driver I have is dated 2007 and the ones I see listed for other models are 2010. What am I missing?? (Besides a few brain cells that is!!)

Well my fear came true!! The inverter from ebay arrived today. I very gently installed it and screwed it down. I then put the battery back in and hit the power button. Nothing no lights illuminate on it the screen stays dark but with a flash light I can see my desktop. I emailed the seller asking if he had another. I would send him the tracking number on the return and would he ship another. This way he know it is on the way back. I just hope he marked it somehow I would hate for him to say I sent mine to him!! Most sellers do mark their items as there are a lot of crooks on ebay!!

Regarding the color quality of my camera...I just downloaded the latest driver from Lenovo and the color is now perfect. Apparently Windows 7 installed a driver dated 2006 after I installed the camera and restarted the T61.

Bill Do you recall the version of the driver. The new T61 is XP and that is the one I put the camera on. Itried to swap the hdd from the old one with W7 but I kept getting a BSOD then it tried to repair the OS ran for over an hr and said it could not be repaired. But when I put it back in the old one it booted to the desktop no problem!! I can see the desktop with a flash light. BTW I ordered a new inverter from a guy in NYC so it should arrive pretty quick. Still wondering about putting the figerprint thing on the XP t61 this will be the one keep as I am not pulling the camera out again!! I will sell the other one either on craigslsit or classifed ad. Too many scam buyers on ebay!!

Update on inverter problem. I am pretty sure I have blown a fuse ! I did a google on the problem and it lead back here and an exact problem was described. Poster even did a picture showing where the fuse is located. I am going to make a temp fused by pass and see if it is the problem. If so I will send the mobo to a friend who has done micro soldering for me in the past. $25.00 is a cheap price to pay if it keeps me from killing the mobo!! I jus have to find the darn fuses locally. On ebay the shipping time is 20 days!! I want to drop the mobo off before I leave for FL on Wednesday.

Can some one look here http://wap32.homeunix.org/pics/T61_fuses_s.jpg and tell me if "p" and "F7" showing by the connector are fuse or diodes? A search for "SMD size 1206 3 amp" (as described by poster) turns up as "Surface Mounted Diode"

OK I have one hdd working with a new istall of W7 it sems ok except for the web camera I cannot keep it still it keeps zooming and head tracking. Anyone know how to stop this?? Thanks
