I have just purchased a docking station so I could easily disconnect and connect my peripherals. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this product, I would love to hear from you. I have read that sometimes a static discharge shuts the machine off when you connect it to the dock. I just need to know any precautions I need to take, and any recommendations on how to improve my experience with it. thanks

I use the Mini-dock a lot, and love it. I've heard about the static discharge problem - it's a defect present on some units, but not on all of them. Nothing to worry about unless you experience the symptoms described.

Make sure you always run the dock with the 90W adapter that comes with it (The smaller 65W may not work at all or work poorly).

You may experience bluescreens/system lockups if the machine is docked and the power to the dock is cut (i.e., power failure). This is caused by problems in Windows handling sudden loss of legacy peripherals (serial/parallel ports) on the dock. If you experience the lockups and do not use aforementioned legacy ports, there should be a settings in the BIOS to disable them.

I have been using the Advanced Mini Dock for about a year now. I have two of them for an equal number of machines without a problem. The power off issue you mention has a solution described here:

Hope it helps.
