Adding Bluetooth To A T60
Hi everyone,
I have an X60s with bluetooth, and was wondering if I could move the bluetooth card over to my T60 instead. The X60s is pretty much a write-off and I'm thinking I may part it out, but would like to salvage the bluetooth card if possible.
I have't confirmed it, but it looks like the bluetooth card goes in the LCD panel. I just want to confirm before I mess with it at all.
Thanks in advance,
Brian

Re: Adding Bluetooth To A T60
The bluetooth card does go into the LCD and seems to be the same for T6x and X6x, however T60s that came without Bluetooth probably also come without a connector for the daughter card on the LCD cable. Which means you have to change the cable or solder a connector to it.

Ah, good to know, maybe I will just use my little usb bluetooth adapter then. My T60 looks like it has never been opened, so I'll just keep it that way.
Thanks for the response.

Brian

Re: Adding Bluetooth To A T60
FYI, upon occasion, the T60 and R60 models have the LCD cable with the connector even though they did not originally come with Bluetooth. You can check by removing the two screw covers and screws on the left front side of the LCD bezel and peaking underneath - if you see a vacant connector, you are good to go. Only one small screw is needed to secure the BT module to the assembly. No extra antennas or other parts are required. You can swap out the clear plate so you can see the BT icon illuminated when active, but this is not required. All T60's have the appropriate LCD inverter with the BT LED. You just install the BT adapter and then the Lenovo software. Add the clear plate, if desired. It's worth a peak.dr_st wrote:The bluetooth card does go into the LCD and seems to be the same for T6x and X6x, however T60s that came without Bluetooth probably also come without a connector for the daughter card on the LCD cable. By clear plate, he means the following:

If you do happen to perform this mod, and want the light indicator to also work for BT, just make sure you order the correct one that pertains to your model, i.e. 15" or 14", etc.

If you only need to put in the BT module, it takes about 2 minutes.
If you also need to swap the LCD cable, 20-60 minutes (depending on your skills).
