Can I stop T60 from beeping when going in and out of sleep?

#1 Post by Muse » Mon Feb 21, 2011 11:54 am

Is there a way to do this other than turning off sounds completely by hitting the button with the speaker with the strike-through? Turning Windows Sounds to "No Sounds" didn't do the trick.

A major reason I'm asking is that I'm using the headphones out to run long MP3s to a line input on a stereo. Closing the cover of the T60 puts it to sleep, but I get a loud annoying BEEP! It wouldn't be as annoying if I could figure out how to get a higher volume out of the headphone jack. I'm having to turn my stereo up way higher than normal to get acceptable volume. The BEEP is intolerable. There are workarounds to getting a beep at all, but the preferred one is to ditch the beep entirely.

there should be an option in the bios or power manager, beep when power state changes. you should be able to disable that, and that will stop the beeps from occuring.

Bit more drastic: remove/disconnect the internal speakers.

In truth they are of little use. They aren't loud enough even at max volume. I use headphones when I want to really hear audio from my T60s.

Perfect! It's on the 2nd tab in Power Manager, the tab called "Global Power Settings." Thanks! :thumbs-UP:

I turned off that annoyingly loud "feature" myself also. On my T60p, the BIOS menu was Configuration > Alarms > and then disable each of the four selections. MUCH BETTER!
