Video adapter upgrade for T60 - 2008-46U

Hi! Is it possible to upgrade to a motherboard with a x1700 with 256MB? The PN is 2008-46U. Right now I have a x1300 with 64MB.

It would be pretty expensive to sell the T60 for about $200 if I'm very lucky and then spend around $400-$500 to buy a newer ThinkPad. I'm just trying to figure out if a CTO needs to match up for a motherboard to be compatible.Neil wrote:Welcome to the forum!
The T60P was offered with the ATI Mobility FireGL V5250 (256 MB) graphics adapter. But the easiest, and probably cheapest was to upgrade would be to sell your current T60, and put the proceeds toward a machine with the graphics adapter you desire.
I'm not too concerned about high res graphics. Thanks for the info, I didn't know that. That's good to know.RealBlackStuff wrote:The motherboard is independent from the Type/Model on the sticker on the bottom.
You can put any T60 or T60p motherboard, or even some T61 motherboards, in your current machine.
Your 2008-46U is pretty basic, with only a 14.1" XGA (1024x768) LCD.
Putting in such a powerful mobo would be a waste without at least a much better LCD.
You'd need the T60p with 15" UXGA (1600x1200) to benefit most of that type of gfx.
