Hello ,
Don't ask why but i deleted ' vrlogon.dll ' from /system ... to try something ...
Before deleting it i made a copy of the dll on the desktop (so i still have it )
After restarting the pc it give's me the message : "VrLogon.dll failed to load. Contact to your administrator ro replace the dll or restore the original dll"
No safemode mode is working ( safemode with network or cmd) . I googled it a lot ... nothing
Computer model : Lenovo Thinkpad T61
OS: Windows XP sp3
Thank you !
I deleted VRLOGON.DLL
Re: I deleted VRLOGON.DLL
Do you have an external enclosure or SATA adapter cable? You could then remove your drive and hook it up to another PC and then move the file back...or you could boot up a Linux Live CD and do the same.

Re: I deleted VRLOGON.DLL
It can be interesting to discuss why the problem with the vrlogon.dll happened in the first place, as it relates to Thinkpad specific software. I was close to deleting this file myself a while back, but didn't, as I found a solution for it. (If OP did it for this same reason, I don't know) But as it relates directly to the logon process, a deleted vrlogon.dll will create an error during login as the OP describes.
This has to do with the fingerprint reader, and the problem occurs when you try to switch to "fast user switching" mode trough the Windows User Account (UA) control window. You get an error message telling that you are denied to do this change, and the reason is listed to be the file vrlogon.dll. That's all the reasoning you get, and some might find it tempting to just delete the file to try and fix this. But the real reason is that a setting in the Thinkvantage Fingerprint Software also needs to be changed in order to activate fast user switching. Go to All Programs -> ThinkVantage ->ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software -> Settings -> System Settings and check the "Standard Windows Logon" option. You will then get a message telling that the UA window will be opened. Ok the message, close the UA window again, reopen it and the setting can now be changed. Poor integration of Lenovo software? Probably so.
Hope this can serve as a future reference if anyone has a problem and does a search for vrlogon.dll.
