Need advice on repairing 2007-FVG

Last summer i had unfortunate accident with spilling tea over the keyboard. This same day i've given it to service for cleaning, but it didn't go without problems - i now have some weird issues with power management (rebooting instead of sleep, not always turns on after hibernate, etc.)

Official service produces a totally insane bill for repair, which is more than a double of purchase price. Recently i've found a very good option on ebay - almost complete assembly, without LCD, HDD, RAM, CPU or heatsink/fan. It's only drawback is this is used. Do you think it is worth a shot ?

Have you eliminated the Operating System as a possible cause of the random reboots, etc? If so, how have you eliminated it?

2007-FVG is a very nice configuration T60 (SXGA+ IPS), X1400, DVDRW etc, I had one also some time ago.

I would buy a 2nd hand motherboard and keep the T60.

MB assembly that i've mentioned has arrived, and i'm afraid i have a problem. The FRU number of MB is 42T0122, and my original MB is 42T0163. Model number of replacement is 2007-72U, and according to http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62741 2007-FVG and 2007-72U uses different MB assembly. Do i have a problem now ?

Can confirm that both T60 machine types 2007-FVG & 2007-72U share the same motherboards, structure frames (inc interposer cards) with ATi x1400 GPU's - I have just recently stripped down both machines - one had motherboard FRU: 41W1456 and the other 44C3708.
