T60 or T61?

So I've been presented with 3 working laptops (2 T61s and a T60), two of which I need to install an operating system on and return. At the moment I'm supposed to set up a T61 (CTO) and the T60 (model 2007-66U) for him. Since I'm fairly sure the only reason he wants those particular two is because they were the only two he sent in a working state (he sent a 3rd T61 parts laptop and the deal was I'd get to keep the two broken ones) I'm wondering if I should offer to keep the T60 instead of the T61? (Of course my intent here is to try and get the standard ratio 1400x1050 screen.)
But before I ask, I want to make sure a few things are possible:
- While the T60 doesn't have wireless-N, I'm wondering if it would be possible to pull the Intel wireless-N card from the broken T61?
- The T60 currently has a 2.0 Core Duo processor installed, would the 2.2 Core 2 Duo processor work in this system?
For reference the specs of the T61s are:
- Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz
- nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M
- 2 GB of memory
- 1440x900 14"
- Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN
- Bluetooth

What's the machine type and model # from the bottom of the donor T61? It will be a (7) digit alpha-numeric like 2347-3CU. I suspect it has a socket P CPU and thus will not work. The N card should work but will post an 1802 error, and you'll need a 3rd antenna. You'll need to run a modified BIOS.

I'm surprised that the bios between the T60 and T61 would be different.
Anyhow all of the T61s are 7663-CTOs and configured the same.

Well, I don't think there are any exceptions to T61's having socket P Core 2 Duo's, so forget the CPU. Even the N card is questionable. Theoretically it should work with a hacked BIOS but I can't find an example of someone who has done it successfully. T60s and T61s are a completely different line of laptops, so why would you be surprised if the BIOS's are different? The internal architectures are not the same.

It seemed to me that the specs were more or less the same (same CPU generation for the Core 2s at least). Anyhow thanks for the information.
One other thing though. Since I have this parts laptop that is more-or-less complete, I'm wondering if it would be worth fixing? The only symptom it has is the power and battery light turning on briefly when the adapter is plug in (power button does nothing), so I imagine the motherboard is dead.

I have a T60p and I'm running an Intel 4965 agn card in it...
Works with a modified BIOS for me...

Interestingly enough, there were some T60s that came stock with Wifi-N, but not with Intel's flavor. Mostly customized-to-order units, but some preconfigured ones as well.

T60 2007-FVG came with wireless-N which I have. I updgared the laptop to T60p specs and installed 4965AGB wifi card from T61. It works flawlessly with hacked BIOS.
I also upgraded it to Ericsson F3507G WWAN (with antennas etc) and kept the N-wifi antenna also. Total of 5 wireless antennas now

I have a T61 8897-03U where I swapped the wifi card for a generic Intel 6200-N, which only needs 2 antennae (6300-N requires 3).
I also applied Middleton's famous BIOS to bypass the wifi whitelists, it lets the T61 run at SATA II speed (not available on T60) and has a few other niceties.
Running W7-Pro 32-bit without any problems.

Well at this point the wireless card is a non-issue since the processor swap was more important to me. (64-bit support for one.) And the whole reason I asked was because I had an extra Intel card from the parts T61. I appreciate all the suggestions though.

Any thoughts on this?
