For information: dead battery freezes T60

#1 Post by icebag » Sat Mar 12, 2011 4:14 am

Just in case it helps someone ...

I bought a T60 (15" 1400x1050 screen) on eBay. It was being sold very cheaply because it was freezing half way through starting up XP. I tried an Xubuntu hard drive from another T60, and it froze. I tried running Xubuntu from a live disk, and that froze too.

Then I removed the battery and everything worked perfectly! :D

Yes, I discovered that too about a year ago and was pleased that it was not a motherboard.

It can happen with bad battery electronics. Almost all the times I have seen it, the machine had an aftermarket battery.

In my case it was with genuine Lenovo batteries, actually two of them. Both were Sanyos.
