Replacement battery for my T60. Which? Original or generic?

Hi,
ThinkPad T60 1952-A97
My original T60 IBM branded battery is coming to the end of its life.
Does anyone know if the aftermarket batteries are ok, or should I get a genuine IBM/lenovo battery as a replacement?
Mine is the standard, 6 cell battery, not the 9 cell extend life.
Is the 9 cell worth the extra.
I have even seen a 12 cell advertised, with 10800AH is this ok?
Thanks

my advice, get the genuine battery.
9-cell is good if you need the extended runtime, but it does add weight and it sticks out about an inch from the back. that said, my t60p came with both the 6 and 9. i use the 9 around the house, but switch to the 6 when on the road.
cheers

Original, especially a Panasonic would be the best.
The 6cell battery is now marketed as Thinkpad Battery 41+, the 9cell as Battery 41++.

I would recommend an Original battery as well. However, that being said I have had good luck with my aftermarket 9 cell battery. I purchased it locally for less than half the price of the OEM battery. The reason I chanced it was I just couldn't justify $200 for a battery in a computer than was only worth $200.
If you can afford it, get the OEM battery though, I would just feel safer with it. Risk of an explosion would worry me.

wow! $200?
the refurbs from the lenovo outlet that Harry linked are great deals considering they're *lenovo* refurbs and they have, at least, some warranty.

Are they normally that cheap? $50 for a 9 cell is great! I remember seeing them for $75 ish after a 20% coupon.

I just bought a 6 cell from the outlet a week ago and paid $56.24.

Two day shipping was free.

It's a Sony.

It had zero cycles and its full charge capacity is equal to its design capacity.

Thanks for the replies,
I think I will go with an original if I can get a deal somewhere. But having said that, I have been looking at some aftermarket Co's that give moneyback gaurantees and are pretty cheap.
Also the lenovo refurbished look very good. Even though they only have a 90 day warranty, a refurb is often only a name for returned to factory and shipped out again. So if they will ship to the Uk for a cheap price I might buy from them.
Thanks

The Lenovo Outlet will not ship to the UK. I'd look for a genuine battery on ebay. They're usually pretty close to ebay price wise.
