IBM ThinkPad T61 fails to boot into Windows Vista
IBM ThinkPad T61 fails to boot into Windows Vista
I've just pick up a T61 from a friend.
Basically the system boots into a Blank Black Screen with the cursor in the middle. I've tried activating ThinkVantage to no avail and seems like the Harddisk has crashed?
Any idea if there's any possibility of getting a recovery disc to work with it? I've a T410, will it help?

Boot up a PC-Doctor CD and run diagnostics on the hard drive. Create the CD on your T410. (burn .iso image to disc)

My apologies. It's a T400, and it's dead too.Harryc wrote:Boot up a PC-Doctor CD and run diagnostics on the hard drive. Create the CD on your T410. (burn .iso image to disc)

Currently I'm using an ASUS, which is unable to install Lenovo's .exe file properly to view.
My T61 is currently at the ThinkVantage Techonologies page and the white cursor without any progress.
Re: IBM ThinkPad T61 fails to boot into Windows Vista
Its not a program to view. It simply extracts a .iso file to a subfolder of C:/Drivers, then you burn that to a CD as an image. If you can't run diagnostics your problem determination options are very limited...as in start swapping parts starting with the hard drive. You don't have a friend with a PC who can burn this disc?

Thanks for the clarification, my bad for misinterpreting the message earlier.Harryc wrote:Its not a program to view. Thanks for all the help. Managed to run the hard format and re-installed Vista followed by a patch on Lenovo site.
