i have tried a 5300 and a 5100 wireless N card and it does the same on both wireless cards i have also tried the swapping the memory and still the same.

What is your t60 model number? Is it t60 ot t60ws?
Can you run some linux live CD and copy the same files, same way? If this works fine you could eliminate cracked BOIS problem.

I use an Intel Advanced-N 6200 in a T61, and that works great (Windows 7 Pro 32-bit, no SP1).
That's a 1/2-size miniPCIe card with a bracket, requiring only 2 antenna wires.
The BIOS is the Middleton hack with no whitelists, SATA II speed, SLIC2.1 tables and some other goodies.

Check/ask there for an updated/newer T60 BIOS, although I do not think that
Zender's BIOS is the culprit (he only bypassed the whitelists).

You can get a wireless n card that will work directly with a T60 without doing any bios mods whatsoever. Its an atheros card - FRU 42T0825 (if I remember correctly). My T60 with win XP claims 300 Mbs connectivity - I don't know if things are really running that fast or not ...

I forget to mention - you can get the atheros card off e-bay for about $ 40 to $ 50.

have you tried to flash the BIOS to the newest version (which is different/newer to cracked BIOS), put the old wifi card in and try the same transfer?
Does it still do this?
