Greetings,

I'm new to this forum. Recently bought a crucial 256 SSD and can't get my t61p to recognize the drive. Been troubleshooting this for a few days and am desperate for a soution.

The drive model is here http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs. ... 256MAG-1G1. I've updated my bios to the latest version and tested the drive in an older Lenovo n100 laptop and it works there. I've downloaded the .iso from Lenovo's site that's supposed to recognize an SSD but it still doesn't. Has anyone else had this problem or have any other suggestions? Talked to Crucial's support and they don't have any suggestions.

Thx

Does it see the drive in BIOS in the startup/boot section?

No. Unfortunately not.

Is the SATA controller set to AHCI mode in BIOS?

Yeah. I also tried switching it to compatibility mode with no luck as well.

Sounds like a bad SSD. Can you try it in another machine (like a desktop) or connect it to another machine in an enclosure or via an SATA adapter cable?

I put it in another Lenovo n100 laptop and it worked. The other laptop is actually older than mine. My next step today is I'm going to hook it up with a SATA to USB cable and format the entire drive.
