TPOSDSVC.EXE: Heavy Disk Usage

I'm looking at the task manager on my T60p (Windows 7) and notice 435000 "I/O Other" entries for the above executable, described as "On screen display message generator for ThinkPad". It's going up by about 200 or 300 I/Os every time the task manager display refreshes.

This doesn't seem right for something associated with the what I assume is the on screen display for such things as changing the brightness or toggling the ThinkLight, certainly rare occurrences in the grand scheme of things. Does it get involved with other "stuff"?

Processes tab, with Reads, Writes, and Others added as optional columns. Sort descending by I/O Other.

interesting. i wonder what "i/o other" refers to.
i've got about 7.8M, but only 3 i/o reads and 0 i/o writes. for reference, i haven't rebooted the machine in about 10 days.
