I have a T61 7663. While it was in warranty, the display became blurry/pixelated. Technical support suggested it was perhaps because a connection was being pinched and promptly replaced it a year or so ago. The warranty has now run out, and I ran into the same problem.

An external display works perfectly fine, so I know there are no GPU issues. I changed the video cable and the lcd screen (because the port connector was broken) and the problem persists. I can't imagine what else it could be. Any thoughts?

What is the whole type number?

The internal display and the external are generated by different parts of the GPU, so it could very well be a faulty GPU. If you machine has the nVIDIA Quadro GPU, it very well may be where the fault lies.

7663WWJ. I don't have the faulty GPU that was being shipping for some time, at least that's what Technical Support claims that my model has not been reported as one having GPU problems. Perhaps it could be specific to my machine only.

How does your BIOS page look?

I have the latest BIOS update: 7LETC7WW (2.27-1.08)

The first time this problem arose, while the computer was under warranty, I was running an older BIOS.

Do you think it could be the video inverter card? That is the only component outside of the motherboard that remains to be changed.

What I meant was whether the BIOS screen/page itself looked messed up and pixelated...

I'm with Neil here, sharing his belief that your nVidia is going south...and no, it's not the inverter, that I'm certain of.

As for the support, they should be ashamed of themselves since they downright lied to you...ALL nVidia chips used in T61/p and R61 generation were affected, regardless of the GPU type...

I just opened my laptop to restart it to see if the BIOS page appeared fine. Low and behold, my screen was perfectly clear. Once I started typing the message, however, it went back to the pixelated version.

The BIOS page also appears pixelated. In fact, the pixelation begins the moment I turn on the computer.

I just got off the phone with Tech Support. They'll overnight be a box and replace my motherboard even though I am out of warranty. They acknowledged that it is a recall issue.

I just wish I didn't have to spend the $130 I spent on parts that were of no use.

Thank you all for you help!
